Alright, this is the first time i'm doing this type of shit, yeah, i'm going to try and make this channel more active by doing videos that are not X-Morta related

i'm going to be branching out more by doing Music reviews video style, uh showing some of my collection, even topic videos such as maybe rants (if something truly pisses me off) and other random shit

so i'm kicking this idea off with a recent Collection Update video, hope you all enjoy

Concerning that Riot CD, the jewel case version that I have cost me just ten dollars. I bought a copy a few years ago. Would love to find the original vinyl.

Painkiller: honestly to really tell you the truth, i can't remember how much i payed for it, yeah i got it two weeks ago but can't remember how much i spent on it, all i can remember that in 2010 Rasputin was selling the original 1993 pressing for about $20 so yeah quite abit, but while i can't remember how much i payed for this recent repress all i know is that it was under $20

as for the original lp pressing, that would be cool to have.

I don't think that "glam metal" is really a genre of music, but I was a bit thrown off by Raven's Mad EP being lumped in with those other albums in your video. While there are one or two poppy songs, the recording itself is closer to what they played on the first three albums.

I can't see videos posted on my browser, but Mad isn't "glam". Not even close.
Quote this message in a reply

While i said the sound was more closer to their early output it was the last one to wear the "glammish" look and it was the only Raven release i had where they looked like a glam band and had some the sound left, i knew the inclusion of Raven would be crazy but my video and my personel addition, the ep would not be included in any person's video but Stay Hard and The Pack is Back would have been but did not have those albums so i had no choice but to inlcude the Mad ep, like again the last release of them sporting a glam-esque image.

Even though the vinyl i have (wich is my dad's copy) is a original press (i think so since it has the embossed cover) there is not a poster inside it, don't know if it came with a poster and i have not asked my dad if it ever came with one but if it did it's long gone.

ZZ Top died in the 70's the 80's shit sounds nothing like their old stuff like two different bands.

You ever listen to "The Moving Sidewalks" Gibbons first band? It's some trippy shit worth a listen.
Quote this message in a reply
#34
i have not listened to The Moving Sidewalks but that could change

as far as ZZ Top goes, the last really good ZZ Top album in my opinion was Fandango!, some two decent albums after that but soon the 80's rolled in the band was brainwashed by MTV, one half ass album in El Loco, a VERY overrated album in Eliminator and a poor excuse for a album in Afterburner, Recycler was at least decent (just my opinion) but Antena was pretty weak, but i don't really play those albums very often than the one's from the 70's, that's where they were at their best, hungry.

i think the heavy bluess was disapearing before Degüello, Tejas still had some of it left but most of it was pretty laid back and not a whole lot of balls in it, i don't know it just did not grab me, i could have added that album in the list instaid of Afterburner but it was not bad enough to be #1 on the list and i wanted have 1 album by each band instaid of the opposite.

Painkiller: There was another band i was going to compare Holy Terror to besides the ones i mentioned and they slipped my mind when i was recording the video but after i got done recording it the band came back into my mind, it was Helstar, Holy Terror on that album started to bring in comparisions to Helstar, due to it's thrashy melodic state, even though Keith Deen was pretty much in the same leauge as guys like James Rivera, he really started to push himself on Mind Wars, wished Holy Terror recorded more albums and they would have been more well known but the 90's was rolling in and killed the momentum, may Keith Dean rest in peace.

I checked out your power metal video, which you probably forgot to post here.

Not sure that I'd consider Accept or even the song "Fast as a Shark" power metal. They seemed to lean more towards heavy metal, albeit with a few doses of what we'd later call speed metal. Then again, I could see them having pioneered power metal in Germany and the rest of Europe.

As for Heavy Load, a much better band comparison would be Warlord. Manilla Road has a lot of different things going on for each of their albums, and Heavy Load didn't really try to escape from the heavy metal sound. "Might for Right", "Run with the Devil", and "Singing Swords" are three of their fast-paced compositions, although they'd still remain where they were at the time. Another band that I could see them being compared to is Omen, albeit just for Battle Cry.

Nonetheless, lots of interesting bands and albums mentioned, but don't limit your choices to simply what you currently have in your collection. Even if you don't physically own a particular album, the fact that you listened to the MP3s is still better than nothing, and it wouldn't hurt to mention it as another noteworthy entry.

Painkiller: yeah i forgot to post it here

anyways, "Fast as a Shark" is not totally a power metal song but does have hints of what would become the european power metal sound

do have a point about the Omen/Heavy Load comparison, maybe the real reason why i compared Heavy Load to Manilla Road is probably based on other people who'd made the comparison (wich is probably not a good thing) but really Heavy Load share little comparison, maybe the reason they get compared to Manilla Road is probably due to the different vocals styles, while Manilla Road has one vocalist but he would sing in two different styles, going from melodic-esque to guttural-lik,e (don't know what better way to describe it), same kinda went with Heavy Load but Heavy Load had two different vocalists (starting with Metal Conquest) but one had a melodic range while the other had a more rough-in-your-face style, those i guess are the only comparison's but musical wise, pretty different

i will not limit myself next time, thanks for the response.[/quote]
