[Progressive Metal] Bad Salad (BR)
These guys became kind of famous after Dream Theater started showing in their concerts a video of them covering their song "The Enemy Inside."

It's some really nice music. Heavy guitars, keyboard solos, and odd time signatures.

Lot's of people on Youtube say they are just a Dream Theater ripoff. What do you guys think? Are they making some original music or not?

I'm not a fan of DT, I actually liked this song better than DT's stuff. I will say Petrucci and the rest of the band are great musicians but what they lack to me is the ability to write great songs - musicianship and technicality are great, but do nothing if you can't write great songs.

Here's a progressive metal band that took me a while to get into when they first came out but I really dig - they were also a huge influence on Chuck Schuldiner:

"I saw Kirk Hammet pick up Tiny Tim's ukulele and play some Metallica solos...sounded JUST like the record..."

"If you listen to BM, but you don’t know what phase the moon is in, or what wild flowers are blooming then you have failed. It is shocking to me that one could be seriously interested in Black Metal and not be deeply committed to radical ecology."

Dream Theater isn't my cup of tea, save for most of their debut album and the Majesty demo.

My kind of progressive metal is more like old Fates Warning.
